CHRYSALIS KALI online membership is for anyone with ancestry or mixed heritage from the Philippines.
This is a special container exclusively for Filipino/a/x folks.
Why?
There's something special about having a container where we can talk and address historical trauma/resilience from our unique cultural, historic, and diasporic perspective, and have those life experiences mirrored back at us.
If you're not Filipino/x/a, I respectfully ask that you refrain from joining this particular course.

Here's the definition of decolonization that guides our work.
Decolonization is an ongoing process that addresses and unravels the deep-seated impacts of historical trauma caused by colonization.
Colonization has impacted various aspects of everyones lives over many generations, including social, political, economic structures, and the well-being of Mother Earth. These impacts are felt deeply within our nervous systems.
The decolonization journey involves engaging in embodied healing practices (such as martial arts, dance, or yoga) which aim to restore a disrupted sense of self and communal belonging by directly addressing somatic imprints of trauma.
It's important to note that decolonization also includes the crucial work of repatriating Indigenous land. However, our group's specific focus centers on the transformative and healing dimensions of the decolonization process.

Julia Moore, Founder of Moonbeamsteams
βAs a mother and a woman, I personally had a hard time believing I had a warrior spirit. Working with Kristen showed me otherwise! Kristen is a gifted teacher, through her stories and her body cues and directions she gives to her students. I love the integration of the feminine warrior energy interwoven with her teachings. Because of the time I spent with Kristen and Chrysalis Kali Collective I have not only been connected to an amazing community but also I hold a deep reverence for the blade and the art of fighting. I honor my body, trust my muscle memory and have a meaningful connection to our ancestral practice of protection. I feel confident and strong to continue to practice Kali as a way to nourish my spirit, mind and physical self.β

Katrina Cabanban, VP at CITI
βBeing a member of CKC has brought so much joy and abundance to my life. For years Iβve felt disconnected to my body and filipino heritage, but CKC provided a safe container to explore Kali as a vehicle to decolonize and express Filipino culture through my body. Along the way, Iβve built relationships within the CKC community that continue to inspire and support me.β

Princess Manuel, LMSW Founder of Luya Healing
βGuro Kristen Cabildo was my first martial arts teacher and it was so powerful to have CKC as my foundation. Theyβve taught me to listen to my body, to honor all the cycles she goes through while simultaneously learning the complexity of Kali and its roots. As a Filipina American and survivor of complex PTSD, this embodiment practice was essential for my healing journey and connection to the motherland. CKC provides a safe space for women, femmes and non-binary folks to explore their bodies in a world that has us overriding our bodily instincts and intuition. This space has allowed me to feel and embody liberation on a whole other level!β

β"What if our ancestors operated with the wisdom that thriving is encoded in the actions of survival β and that thriving can and will come at a later, safer moment in time β like in future generations. Yes, I fully believe that the time for Kali to thrive is now β that it's meant to creatively express itself within bodies like yours and mine β a generation of diverse individuals living in the diaspora seeking meaningful ways to connect to 'home,' our bodies, and each other."
