Renewal on the horizon 🌅
Hi friends,
However you celebrate this time of year, I hope you’re finding some much-needed rest and enjoying quality time with loved ones. We just wrapped up the Christmas chaos here at the Cabildo family abode. Now that my parents have fully embraced the retired Florida life, we’ve been escaping the freezing New York winters more often.
For years, we celebrated Christmas back in my hometown in New Jersey. My dad used to joke that his island blood wasn’t built for all the shoveling. Let’s just say he’s pretty happy to trade snow for sunshine now!
Anyway, I wanted to wish you all a happy holiday season—and to let you know I’ve been working on something special to share with you on January 1st!
I know that winter can sometimes feel like a drag, so I wanted to offer something to help you kick-start the new year—especially if you’re someone who feels the energy shift around the end of the calendar year and the beginning of a new one.
Having worked in the fitness industry for years, I’ve seen the frenzy of “New Year, New You” energy. And yet… it’s still winter, isn’t it? Hibernation, reflection, and downtime are the natural rhythms of this season.
But here’s the thing: endings hold their own kind of energy—an energy for germination, like seeds quietly preparing to sprout. While we don’t need to come out guns blazing for January 1st, the new year is the perfect time to lay down a strong foundation during the winter months—one that can set the tone for the entire year ahead.
Not a blazing fire that burns out after a few weeks (so we don’t toss our resolutions aside by February), but steady embers that keep our inner fire alive—fortifying us for the spring and summer months when we can go full out, in tune with the rhythm of nature.
And just like a seed beneath the winter soil, there’s plenty happening under the surface. This time of year can be about nurturing the quiet beginnings of something that’s ready to grow and flourish in its proper time.
On January 1st, I’ll be sharing an offering to help you tap into that energy—a way to begin cultivating an intentional Kali practice with the potential to blossom into something more.
Stay tuned!
🌅🫶🏽⚔️,
Guro Kristen
