Remembering the First Filipino-American Warriors 🗡️
As we continue celebrating Filipino American History Month, it’s a perfect time to dive into the rich and complex history between the Philippines and the United States.
Tomorrow, in our Chrysalis Kali online session for members, we’ll take a deep dive into the early presence of Filipinos in the U.S., from their first landings to the significant waves of immigration that followed.
Did you know that Filipinos set foot in the U.S. more than 30 years before the Pilgrims reached Plymouth Rock? These early Filipinos, who navigated across the Pacific Ocean, were not only expert seamen but also warriors. They overcame not just the dangers of the sea but also crew uprisings and attacks on their ships.
This legacy of resilience and warrior spirit runs deep in our history — from guerrilla fighters in hand-to-hand combat to farm workers who fought for their rights and fair wages.
As we reflect on this important month, in tomorrow’s live session we'll also remember the first members of our families who immigrated. What were their stories? How did they embody the warrior spirit?
If you’re ready to explore our powerful collective history further, I invite you to join the Chrysalis Kali online membership. We traverse these topics together, helping us reconnect with our shared warrior heritage.
